The International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIIT Bangalore or simply IIITB) is an Indian private research university in Bangalore, Karnataka. The university was founded in 1999 with a vision to contribute to the IT world by focusing on education and research, entrepreneurship and innovation. It offers Integrated M.Tech., M.Tech., M.S. (Research) and PhD programs in the field of Information Technology....Since its inception, IIIT-B, with its unique model of education, research, and industry interaction, has grown in stature to become an institution of considerable repute in academic as well as corporate circles. The Institute works in partnership with the corporate sector, while retaining the freedom of an academic institution. It is inspired by other renowned institutions, and also strives to emulate an academic culture that is on par with the best international institutions. In February 2005, IIIT-B was conferred Deemed University status under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act 1956. This was re-affirmed by the Tandon Committee report in October 2009, which gave (cf. Annexure VII (b) of the report) IIIT-B a score of 41 (the most given to any deemed university). IIITB was instituted on 15 September 1999 as the Indian Institute of Information Technology, with its campus at International Tech Park (ITPL). The institute functioned at ITPL for the first four years. In August 2003, IIIT-B relocated to its present campus in Electronics City. Though small, but IIITB has one of the most green and beautiful campus, not to forget the awesome Bangalore weather to add on to its awesomeness.

Although IIIT-B is considered very good still the gate cutoff for IIIT-B is very low because it doesn't have undergraduate program. That is the major reason why most of the student community don't know about it. Another thing is it doesn't have rigorous coding culture like IIIT-H....But, it holds the reputation of having one of the best and one of its kind graduate courses. M.Tech course here is majorly industry oriented as opposed to the research focused curricula in other elite institutions. That is why big hot shot software companies visit for campus placements and students gets placed better than most of the IITs. It is rapidly building its brand value against IITs and competition is gonna go high in years to follow. Strength of IIITB is it's faculty. All PhD from renowned universities (like MIT), very down to earth and approachable. You will have an option of doing projects for startups, NGOs, government agencies (like KSRTC) or your own idea (its completely your choice). It also have foreign exchange program in last semester where you can easily do your thesis in some foreign university instead of internship.

 Mode Of Admission

• One needs to take JEE (Main) exam and separately apply for IIIT-B counselling.
• Admissions are on the basis of rank in JEE (Main).
• The applicant must have taken Mathematics as one of the subjects in the qualifying examination (10+2).

• The candidate must have secured at least 60% marks in aggregate in qualifying examination (10+2).
